There are numerous differences between Blackboard portfolio and CUNY Academic Commons. Chiefly, the difference lies in presentation. CUNY Academic Commons is much more vibrant and gives the user much more options on color, design and minute features for the website. Blackboard portfolio is a generic platform that gives the user a much more basic approach to a website/blog. However, it is important to point out that Blackboard portfolio is slightly more user friendly. It provides a simple design which can be beneficial is a student is trying to only convey the material without adding visual effects and other distractive elements.
CUNY Academic Commons works well because of its options. The Word Press platform allows for not only specific choices as mentioned above, but also presents the information in a much more formal fashion. This is important because the website needs to have some character to entice the reader. Another important aspect of CUNY Academic Commons is that the website is complete customizable. The general theme can be changed, font, color, and other features that are more specific than the portfolio on blackboard. Another great feature with CUNY Academic Commons is the ability to create posts on topics that are relevant to your portfolio, case or capstone. My opinion is that I favor the CUNY Academic Commons more than Blackboard portfolio.
